With the release of Backup Exec 11d , the Central Admin Server Option unifies independent Backup Exec media servers to provide one central point of administration and control. It enables users to centrally manage operations of managed media servers, benefit from load balancing and fault tolerance to ensure that resources are automatically protected by an available managed media server in a Windows data center, distributed throughout the network, or at remote offices.


With the Central Admin Server Option, Backup Exec 11d helps reduce the level and cost of administration required for organizations with more than one Backup Exec server, and easily scales if needs grow over time.

    The Backup Exec software architecture is designed to minimize network traffic and maximize throughput performance. The new Remote Agent for Linux or UNIX servers, along with Remote Agent for Windows or Netware servers, provide high performance client access when protecting or restoring remote file and database servers.

  • Note: Support for a single robotic library drive is available when you purchase Backup Exec.
